Moses Kuria has officially left Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) and joined the United Democratic Alliance, signaling a clear shift in his political strategy. He also declared his intention to run for president in 2032.
Kuria confirmed that he will first contest the Gatundu South parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election. He said he will vie under the UDA ticket as he works to return to elective politics.
Speaking during a Citizen TV interview, Kuria described the move as strategic. He linked his decision to long-term plans to succeed William Ruto after his constitutional term ends.
He also weighed in on the evolving succession dynamics within Kenya Kwanza. Kuria said Kithure Kindiki still has a “mathematical chance” of retaining his position in 2027, though he noted the situation remains uncertain.
On opposition politics, Kuria suggested Oburu Odinga could emerge as a potential running mate. He downplayed the chances of Mining CS Hassan Joho, saying his prospects remain minimal despite political positioning.
Kuria argued that while many leaders are positioning themselves, only a few hold realistic chances of securing top roles. He framed the current political environment as highly competitive and fluid.
Turning to Mt Kenya politics, Kuria warned against misleading narratives about the region’s influence. He said some leaders are exaggerating its electoral importance for personal gain.
He also dismissed claims that Ruto’s re-election depends entirely on Mt Kenya support. According to Kuria, broader national coalitions can still deliver victory without overwhelming backing from the region.
His latest move reshapes his political path and places him firmly within UDA as succession debates begin to take shape.
