A chief, his wife, and two suspects have been arrested following the sexual assault of a woman at the chief’s home in Kapsaos, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The victim of this assault is in recovery after receiving corrective surgery for her injuries sustained during the attack, which also involved the use of a bottle.
According to residents, the alleged assault took place within the chief’s compound, an area that is expected to represent law and order.
According to the victim, what began as a search for manual labor at the chief’s residence, escalated into a traumatic experience that necessitated corrective surgery.
She asserts that she was forced to remain overnight, when the chief’s wife lock her inside a room, where two men sexually assaulted her overnight.
For the victim, although the surgery may heal the physical wounds, the psychological trauma will haunt her forever.
Local residents have condemned the incident and expressed their concerns regarding the increasing insecurity in the region.
