New details have emerged regarding the relationship between the woman arrested and veteran gynaecologist Job Obwaka, following his sudden death.
According to a police report, the doctor had travelled to Kitengela on personal errands in the company of a woman believed to be his business partner. Authorities have identified the woman as Beatrice Wangare, who is currently in custody as investigations continue.
“It was reported that Dr Job Obwaka had been brought into the facility by ambulance after collapsing in Kitengela, where he had gone on personal errands in the company of the said woman, believed to be a business partner,” part of the police report read.
The report indicates that the two had spent time together before the doctor collapsed, prompting emergency response efforts that led to his transfer to Nairobi Hospital. He was later pronounced dead on arrival.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are now working to establish the exact nature of their association and the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
Investigators have already visited key locations linked to the case and are expected to record statements from individuals who may have interacted with the pair before the incident. Authorities say the woman’s detention is part of ongoing efforts to gather information and verify details surrounding the doctor’s final movements.
Officials have maintained that the investigation is still at an early stage, with more findings expected once medical and forensic reports are completed.
