A wave of tension has swept through parts of Ol’Kalou constituency on this morning, after a vehicle belonging to an agent of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah gets targeted and set ablaze by unknown assailants.
The incident, which has occurred just as voting is gaining momentum has threatened to disrupt the otherwise peaceful polling day.
The attack has allegedly taken place in a localized hotspot, prompting an immediate response from the heavily deployed security apparatus.
Special units, including the General Service Unit (GSU) and local police officers have rushed to the scene to prevent the situation from escalating into full-blown running battles between rival political factions.
Speaking shortly after casting his own ballot at his local polling center, a remarkably calm Samuel Muchina Nyagah addressed the incident.
The UDA candidate has confirmed the attack but urged his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and focused on the voting exercise, assuring them that the security agencies had quickly brought the situation under complete control.
"It is true that one of our agents' vehicles has been targeted and torched this morning in an unfortunate act of cowardice. However, I want to reassure the people of Ol’Kalou that the situation has been fully contained by the police.
Do not let these acts of provocation intimidate you. Keep queuing, keep voting, and let us maintain the peace." Samuel Muchina Nyagah, UDA Candidate has said.
