The Judicial Service Commission has nominated Mohamed Abdullahi Warsame for appointment to the Supreme Court of Kenya. The nomination now awaits formal appointment by William Ruto.
Martha Koome announced the decision shortly after the interview process concluded. Warsame was among the final candidates interviewed on April 29.
Under Article 166(1)(b) of the Constitution, the President appoints Supreme Court judges based on recommendations from the JSC. The appointment becomes official through a Gazette Notice.
Warsame has served at the Court of Appeal of Kenya since 2012. His judicial career also includes roles at the High Court in the Commercial and Criminal Divisions.
He previously headed the Judicial Review Division at the High Court, handling key constitutional and administrative law matters.
Warsame holds a law degree from the University of Nairobi and a diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
If appointed, he will join the apex court at a time when the judiciary continues to handle high-stakes constitutional and political cases.
