The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has reported a sharp increase in voter registration as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election. The surge reflects growing public participation in the ongoing Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

The commission announced that 531,185 new voters registered between April three and April nine. This pushed the total number of new registrations since March thirty to 875,501 across the country.

IEBC is conducting the exercise in all 1,450 County Assembly Wards and key public service centres. These include higher learning institutions, Huduma Centres, constituency offices, and the Anniversary Towers customer centre.

The registration exercise will continue until April twenty eight, with daily operations including weekends and public holidays. Officials aim to maximize access and ensure that eligible citizens register before the deadline.

The commission also recorded 49,502 voter transfers and 1,066 updates to voter details. These figures show that both new and existing voters are actively engaging with the process.

IEBC praised citizens for the strong turnout, describing it as a sign of civic awareness and responsibility. The commission said the growing numbers reflect a population ready to participate in shaping the country’s future.

Officials emphasized that the response demonstrates national commitment to democratic processes ahead of the elections. They encouraged more eligible citizens to register and update their details before the exercise concludes.
