Traffic along the Southern Bypass stalled after suspected goons blocked sections near Thogoto and Gitaru. Motorists faced delays as burning tyres and trailers obstructed movement toward Kikuyu and surrounding areas.

Photos showed piles of burning tyres placed across the road, producing thick smoke that reduced visibility. A few individuals stood near the fires while others moved away as tension remained high.

Authorities reported that unknown individuals strategically positioned two large trailers to block the highway. The obstruction disrupted traffic flow significantly, leaving many commuters stranded for hours.

The incident followed accusations by Rigathi Gachagua against Kimani Ichung'wah over alleged plans to disrupt a DCP rally. Gachagua claimed remarks made earlier suggested possible mobilization of groups to interfere with the event.

In a letter dated April ten, the DCP party alleged repeated threats targeting the planned rally. The party claimed security agencies failed to act despite what it described as clear warnings.

DCP further alleged intelligence reports indicated plans to incite violence and block key roads using trucks. The claims suggested possible attempts to restrict access and disrupt movement of supporters heading to Kikuyu Town.

In response, Ichung’wah wrote to Douglas Kanja accusing Gachagua of promoting incitement and division. He claimed recent activities risked destabilizing peace and increasing ethnic tensions within the constituency.

The legislator urged police to act swiftly to prevent escalation and protect residents and property. The situation continues to raise concerns about security and political tensions ahead of planned gatherings.
