The family of Davis Chirchir is in mourning following the death of his father, Edwin Koech. The passing was confirmed on Tuesday, April 21, drawing condolences from leaders across the country.

Julius Bitok described the late Koech as a strong and dependable figure. He said Koech’s guidance shaped many people beyond his immediate family.

Raymond Omollo also joined other leaders in mourning. Tributes highlighted Koech’s role as a respected elder with deep influence in his community.

Leaders described him as a committed Christian who upheld strong family values. They noted his contribution to education and development projects within his community.

Aron Cheruiyot said Koech mentored many people over the years. He added that his influence extended far beyond his family.

Former Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter praised Koech’s generosity and dedication to community service. He said the late elder used his resources and time to uplift others.

The family has moved Koech’s body to Lee Funeral Home. Burial arrangements and details surrounding his death have not yet been made public.

The loss comes shortly after another bereavement involving James Nyikal. His father, Eliud Nyikal Okaka, died on April 12.

Leaders across the country continue to send messages of support to both families. The deaths have drawn attention to the role of community elders and their lasting impact.
