Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed that more than 13 suspects linked to the attack on Godfrey Osotsi have fled the country. He said authorities have launched efforts to track them down.
Speaking before the National Assembly Security Committee on April 21, Murkomen confirmed that security agencies initiated a cross-border operation. He said investigators are working with authorities in neighboring countries to locate the suspects.
Murkomen stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations circulated images of the attackers. He added that several suspects presented themselves to the police after the images went public.
However, he said at least 13 others escaped across the border. He insisted that authorities will arrest them once they return or are traced through joint operations.
The CS warned that those involved will face the law. He said the arrests will serve as a deterrent to others involved in political violence.
The attack on Osotsi occurred on April 8 in Kisumu. A group of youths approached him while posing as supporters before turning violent.
CCTV footage captured the senator being dragged and assaulted. He sustained serious injuries and later received treatment in Nairobi after an airlift.
The incident drew condemnation from leaders across the political divide. Opposition figures accused Raymond Omollo of involvement, an allegation that remains contested.
Opposition leaders also issued an ultimatum demanding action. They warned that failure to arrest the attackers would raise further concerns over security and accountability.
