Civil Servants Over The Moon as Ruku Announces Salary to Be Raised on This Date

The government has confirmed another salary increase for civil servants effective July 1, 2026. Geoffrey Ruku said negotiations on a new pay deal are nearly complete.

Ruku noted that the agreement will be anchored in a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The deal will guide salary reviews over the next four years.

He said the government has already engaged the Kenya Union of Civil Servants and agreed on most issues. Only a few key matters remain unresolved.

One of the sticking points is how the increment will be implemented. Officials are considering phased payments over four years or a one-time adjustment.

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission is working with the ministry to finalise the remaining details. Authorities aim to conclude talks and sign the agreement soon.

The planned increase follows an earlier adjustment implemented in January. The new deal is expected to shape public sector pay and influence future compensation structures.
