Dramatic scenes unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in Kapkwen, Bomet County, after a man transporting a coffin on a boda boda was involved in a road accident. The unusual incident quickly drew attention from residents, leaving many shocked and bewildered.
According to sources, the accident occurred when two motorcycles collided along a busy road in the area. One of the motorcycles was reportedly carrying an empty coffin at the time. Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with the coffin lying on the ground, broken and partly burned.
Residents reacted with fear and confusion after seeing the coffin, with some reportedly believing it could bring bad luck or symbolize death. In response, several individuals allegedly attempted to set the coffin on fire. Sources indicated that around five litres of petrol were poured on it, yet the coffin did not burn as expected. The unexpected outcome reportedly left onlookers even more puzzled and unsettled.
