Ruto Orders Schools to Include Beyond Vision 2030 in Creative Events

President William Ruto has directed that all school creative events incorporate the government’s Beyond Vision 2030 from next year as part of efforts to align young people with his administration’s long-term development agenda.

Ruto issued the directive on Friday, August 14, during the State Concert for the 98th Kenya Music Festival at Bungoma State Lodge.

Kindiki Tasked With Talent Search Rollout

The President also instructed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to operationalise the Kenya National Talent Search in partnership with the private sector.

Ruto said the programme will identify and nurture talented young people across the country and provide a structured pathway for their growth.

Changes to Music and Drama Festivals

According to the President, the new body will coordinate changes in school music and drama festivals and ensure that creative events support the broader national development agenda.

The initiative will focus on identifying talent in:

• Music

• Creative arts

• Comedy

• Drama festivals

Government Targets Structured Talent Development

Ruto said the government wants to create a more organised system for developing student talent and connecting it to future opportunities in the creative economy.

The announcement forms part of the administration’s broader Beyond Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to shape Kenya’s long-term economic and social development beyond the current Vision 2030 framework.

Education and creative arts stakeholders are now expected to receive further guidelines on how schools will implement the new requirements in music, drama and other creative events from next year.
