The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) has projected rainfall in parts of the country between June 9 and June 15, even as dry weather dominates most regions.

In its latest weekly forecast, the weather agency said counties in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, as well as the Coast region, could receive occasional rainfall during the seven-day period.

Areas likely to experience rain include Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Murang’a, Kisii, Kakamega, Bungoma, Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi. The forecast indicates that showers may occur at different intervals throughout the week.

While rainfall is expected in those areas, much of the country will remain largely dry. The weather department noted that only isolated regions will record significant precipitation.

Meanwhile, residents in parts of the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Northeastern Kenya should expect cool and cloudy conditions. Counties likely to experience these conditions include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Taita-Taveta, Kajiado, Narok, Baringo, Turkana, Samburu, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.

The forecast also points to high daytime temperatures in several counties. Temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius are expected in towns such as Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Voi, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, and Lodwar.

According to KMSA, the hottest conditions will occur in parts of the Coast region, Northeastern Kenya, Northwestern Kenya, and sections of the Southeastern Lowlands.

Residents in affected areas have been advised to keep track of weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in regions expected to experience heavy heat or rainfall.

The latest outlook comes as weather patterns continue to vary across the country, with some regions receiving rain while others experience dry and hot conditions.
