A court in Nairobi has ordered the detention of Tony Odhiambo for 10 days. Detectives continue probing the death of Consolata Githinji, also known as Connie.
Githinji, a 22-year-old student at Murang’a University, died after falling from an apartment in Kileleshwa. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday under unclear circumstances.
Reports indicate she checked into the apartment at Kaisa Gardens alongside Odhiambo. CCTV footage shows the pair entering the building before the incident.
Her body was later found on the ground below the building. Investigators have not established the exact sequence of events leading to the fall.
Odhiambo has denied involvement and claims the death resulted from suicide. The family has rejected that account and demanded a thorough investigation.
Police have also linked Odhiambo to a separate case in Kilimani. Authorities say he is wanted over an alleged offence reported in 2025 after failing to appear in court.
Detectives are examining claims that he operated multiple short-term rental units in Nairobi. Investigators suspect possible links to other activities under review.
The case has raised fresh concerns about safety in short-stay apartments. Authorities continue to analyse CCTV footage, digital evidence, and witness accounts.
