A family in Githogoro, Nairobi, is demanding answers after their son, James Muhia, was found dead in a forest in Limuru days after police allegedly arrested him.

Relatives say officers arrested Muhia over what they described as a minor offence before taking him to Runda Police Station.

Family Questions Police Account

According to the family, Muhia’s parents later visited the station to check on him and seek his release. However, they claim officers failed to explain his whereabouts while in custody.

The family says police later informed them that Muhia had already left the station. Officers allegedly did not clarify when he left or who authorised his release.

His relatives then launched a desperate search across hospitals, police stations, and mortuaries. The search ended tragically after people discovered his body dumped in a forest in Limuru.

Residents Demand Justice

The incident has sparked anger among Githogoro residents, who now question the circumstances surrounding Muhia’s arrest and death.

Locals say the situation appears suspicious and want investigators to establish whether Muhia died in custody before someone moved his body.

Family members are now calling for a transparent investigation into the case. They want authorities to explain how a man arrested alive later ended up dead in a forest.

Human Rights Groups Join Calls

Human rights activists have also demanded an independent inquiry into the incident. They insist investigators must uncover the truth and hold responsible individuals accountable.

Residents continue to pressure authorities for answers as concern grows over alleged cases of police misconduct and unexplained deaths.
