President William Ruto has rolled out a wide-ranging list of appointments and re-appointments across key government agencies and tribunals, signaling a fresh administrative shake-up captured in the latest Kenya Gazette.

The most striking move is the removal of Millicent Omanga from the board of Kenya Shipyards Limited, barely a year after her appointment in January 2025.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya formalized the revocation in a notice dated April 30, 2026. That kind of quick turnaround usually points to either internal disagreements or shifting political priorities—these roles are rarely cut short without a reason, even if it’s not publicly stated.

At the same time, the President retained key figures in legal oversight roles. Moses Cheboi, Peter Nyaga and Mueni Kalola secured fresh three-year terms as Commissioners at the Advocates Complaints Commission.

In another re-appointment, Ngeny Biwott will continue serving as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya National Accreditation Service board for another three years.

At the Interior Ministry, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen reshuffled leadership at the Directorate of Registration of Persons. Gilbert Benjamin Kitiyo now serves as Principal Registrar, replacing Christopher Wanjau, whose appointment was revoked.

The education sector also saw multiple changes under Julius Migos Ogamba, with new and returning members appointed to councils of national polytechnics, including Kisii National Polytechnic and Sigalagala National Polytechnic.

In regional development, Beatrice Askul re-appointed Nkaesha Naikuni and brought in William Larus to the Ewaso Ng’iro South River Basin Development Authority board.

The Judiciary also made moves through Martha Koome and the Judicial Service Commission. Anne Nderu now chairs the Public Benefit Organisations Disputes Tribunal, while Carolyne Mboku will lead the HIV and AIDS Tribunal.
