Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has claimed that his personal assistant was arrested and detained under unclear circumstances.
Tuju said the aide was allegedly waylaid at around 5pm, but he only learned of the incident later in the night as those around him avoided informing him while he rested. He stated that he is currently at home recovering and undergoing treatment involving strong pain medication.
Lawyers representing the aide reportedly visited the police station, but authorities are said to have denied bond at the time. Police have not issued an official statement regarding the arrest.
Tuju also raised concern over what he described as increased police presence at Dari Business Park. He alleged that several vehicles were stationed within the premises, terming the situation as intimidation despite his ongoing recovery.
The former Jubilee Party Secretary General has recently faced health complications, which he says were aggravated during a previous police encounter.
His claims come amid an ongoing dispute and conflicting accounts between him and investigators led by Amin Mohamed regarding earlier events surrounding his movements.
