A growing fuel shortage has hit Nairobi and Mombasa, with several petrol stations shutting down while others ration supply, leaving motorists stranded and frustrated.
Long queues have formed across major roads as drivers scramble to secure fuel, with some stations limiting the amount each vehicle can purchase. In some areas, pump prices have surged to as high as KSh200 per litre, intensifying pressure on transport and daily operations.
In places like South B, South C, Kilimani, and Westlands, many stations were simply dry while a few had long queues.
This comes despite government assurances that the country has sufficient fuel reserves to last at least two more weeks. The situation on the ground, however, tells a different story, raising questions about distribution and access.
Public transport operators have begun adjusting fares, while businesses dependent on fuel report disruptions in their operations.
The shortage has triggered concern among consumers, with many fearing a prolonged crisis if supply challenges are not addressed quickly.
