The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has appointed Pius Mwendwa as acting Managing Director following the arrest of Joe Sang. The board assured stakeholders that company operations remain stable and unaffected despite leadership changes.
A statement signed by KPC Board Chair Faith Boinett confirmed that Mr. Mwendwa, previously GM-Finance, will discharge the duties of the Managing Director to ensure business continuity. The board said it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with authorities regarding the ongoing investigation.
Sang’s arrest forms part of a broader probe into the alleged procurement of substandard fuel. Other senior officials, including Petroleum PS Mohamed Liban and EPRA DG Daniel Kiptoo, were also detained.
Sources indicated that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations carried out the arrests on Thursday evening. The officials were subsequently taken to a Nairobi police station for questioning as the investigation continues.
