A political plan reportedly being discussed by a section of opposition leaders could see Kalonzo Musyoka presented as their presidential candidate.
The alleged plan is said to involve senior politicians including JB Muturi, Lenny Kivuti and Eugene Wamalwa.
According to claims attributed to the Sponsor Chronicles Bureau, the leaders are expected to meet at Stone Athi for crucial discussions.
The meeting is reportedly expected to consider a proposal for Kalonzo to be unveiled as the joint opposition candidate by October 10.
The claims come as opposition parties continue efforts to build a broader political alliance ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo's Ukombozi Alliance recently brought together several political parties and leaders as opposition cooperation continued to take shape.
Sifuna Mentioned in Running Mate Proposal
The alleged discussions are also said to include a proposal for Senator Edwin Sifuna to become Kalonzo's running mate.
However, the report claims that disagreements emerged over whether Sifuna should be informed before the proposal is publicly presented.
According to the account, some participants favoured appealing to the public first rather than seeking Sifuna's approval beforehand.
The reasoning reportedly given was that an early rejection could derail the proposal before it gains public support.
Sifuna has previously publicly backed Kalonzo as a preferred opposition presidential candidate, although opposition parties have yet to publicly settle on a joint flagbearer.
Gachagua's Position Raises Questions
The reported discussions are also said to have considered the position of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
According to the claims, a proposal could be made for Gachagua to serve as Prime Cabinet Secretary within the proposed political arrangement.
The account alleges that some participants believe Kalonzo's candidacy should be advanced even without Gachagua's approval.
However, the claims have not been independently confirmed by the leaders named in the report.
Gachagua has separately called for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 elections and has participated in discussions involving several opposition figures.
Recent opposition engagements have included Kalonzo, Muturi, Wamalwa and Kivuti among other senior political leaders.

The reported proposals come amid continuing efforts to determine how the opposition will organise itself ahead of the next presidential election.
The recent rebranding of Azimio La Umoja as the Ukombozi Alliance has added to the ongoing coalition-building efforts.
Kalonzo was recently mandated by the Ukombozi Alliance to engage other political formations as efforts to expand the coalition continue.
Those engagements were reported to include Gachagua's DCP, Martha Karua's PLP and other political parties.
The alleged October 10 unveiling would therefore mark a significant development if the reported plan is eventually adopted.
