Operations at the Capitol Hill Police Station in Nairobi have come to an abrupt end after the facility was formally removed from the official list of police stations, authorities have confirmed.
In a directive issued by Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Tusca Opondo, officers stationed at the facility have been ordered to vacate and report to their new assignments. The move effectively brings all activities at the station to a close.
“Capitol Hill Police Station has been officially degazetted, and as a result, I, the Officer Commanding Station, have been instructed to vacate the premises within the shortest time possible,” Opondo said in the notice.
“All officers previously stationed at Capitol Hill have been redeployed to other stations within the sub-county and the wider region,” Opondo added.
The closure has also disrupted ongoing investigations. Officers from various agencies with active cases or exhibits stored at the station have been directed to retrieve them immediately.
These include documents and motor vehicles linked to investigations.
“I am instructed to request that all multi-agency investigators with pending cases and exhibits, including motor vehicles currently held at this station, arrange to collect them immediately,” Opondo said.
Opondo further advised that individuals with pending cash bail should make arrangements to collect their refunds before the funds are surrendered to the National Treasury.
