Irungu Kang’ata avoided 2027 political chants while addressing residents during William Ruto’s development tour in Murang'a County. He focused on county projects instead of engaging in “Tutam” or “Wantam” slogans.

Kang’ata led the crowd in his own call-and-response chants centered on development initiatives. He highlighted programs such as Kang’ata Care, education support, and farmer empowerment.

He stated that he attended the event out of respect for the President and the office he holds. However, he confirmed he would miss most tour activities due to a leg injury.

Kang’ata explained that his absence should not be interpreted as disrespect. He maintained that his condition limited his movement during the visit.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the county and national government. He said Murang’a needs support to push industrialisation and create jobs for youth.

Kang’ata noted that plans for an industrial park require national backing. He argued that such projects could absorb graduates and strengthen the local economy.

His remarks reinforced his neutral stance amid growing political divisions. He warned that taking sides could isolate the county from national opportunities.

Meanwhile, Ndindi Nyoro did not attend the event. Reports suggest he is in the United States at Harvard Kennedy School for a program.

Nyoro has recently criticized the government over rising fuel prices. His absence added to the political undertones surrounding the President’s tour.
