Kiptilalon Village in Kilibwoni Location, Nandi County, has been thrown into mourning after a disturbing incident in which a man is alleged to have fatally attacked his wife before later being found dead.
The incident has left both relatives and residents deeply shaken, with many struggling to understand what led to such a tragic outcome.
Police say the man, aged 31, reportedly assaulted his 24-year-old wife following suspected long-standing domestic disagreements.
The woman sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Kilibwoni Health Centre. However, she died before receiving medical attention, leaving behind two young children aged two and five.
After the attack, the man is said to have fled. Authorities later discovered his body in a nearby dam, where he had reportedly jumped. Early findings from investigators point to ongoing marital conflict as a possible factor behind the incident, though inquiries remain active.
In a development that has further unsettled the community, the man was buried at night in a low-key ceremony that had no mourners. Local leaders and family members indicated that the decision was influenced by the violent nature of the events, as well as fears of backlash from the public.
Nandi Central Police Commander Maurice Okul confirmed that officers are still piecing together details to establish exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, attention has shifted to the couple’s children, who now face life without both parents. Community members have raised concerns about their wellbeing, urging relatives and relevant agencies to step in and provide support.
The bodies were taken to White Crescent Hospital Mortuary, where postmortem examinations are ongoing to help clarify the cause of death and assist investigations.
