Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Saturday held a rally in Nyeri County, where he urged residents to remain united and called on young people to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Addressing the gathering, Matiang’i said unity will play a key role in shaping the region’s political direction. He emphasized the importance of youth participation, urging them to take responsibility by registering and turning out to vote in large numbers.

He noted that the upcoming election presents an opportunity for Kenyans to make a decision on the country’s leadership, calling on residents to prepare early and stay focused.

Matiang’i also referenced President William Ruto, stating that the 2027 election will give citizens a chance to decide whether he should continue serving or not.

At one point during the rally, residents briefly interrupted the meeting with chants asking Matiang’i to greet former President Uhuru Kenyatta on their behalf. The moment drew cheers from the crowd before the meeting resumed.

Matiang’i acknowledged the request and continued with his address.

The rally forms part of ongoing political engagements across the country, as leaders begin early mobilization ahead of the next general election.
