Family Reveals Identity of Government Employee Claiming that Mary Clare is Dead

The family of gospel singer Mary Claire has dismissed reports claiming she is dead, stating that the 23-year-old is alive and receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Speaking to the media, her brother Daniel Odongo said the rumours are false and have caused unnecessary distress as the family focuses on her recovery. He explained that Mary is currently undergoing treatment after reportedly being attacked with acid.

Odongo further alleged that a government officer identified as Opiyo has been spreading the false claims online. According to the family, the individual is said to be linked to the National Intelligence Service, although these claims have not been independently verified.

The family expressed concern over the circulation of unconfirmed information, noting that it has added pressure during an already difficult time.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko also addressed the reports, dismissing the claims of Mary’s death and pledging support to the family. He confirmed that legal assistance has been arranged, with lawyer Elizabeth Ochieng expected to handle the matter.

Mary is reported to have been attacked by a fellow gospel group member identified as Elvis Opiyo. Her brother said her condition is improving, although doctors remain concerned about injuries to her eye and mouth.

Sonko urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, stating that the focus should remain on Mary’s recovery and the ongoing investigation.
