In a statement issued on Friday, August 7, EACC said the former official allegedly presented a forged Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate during recruitment for an audit position.
DPP Approves Criminal Charges
EACC said investigators completed the probe and forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The DPP approved charges related to forgery, uttering a false document, deceiving an employer and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
“Upon conclusion of investigations, the Commission forwarded the investigation file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved charges of Forgery, Uttering a False Document, Deceiving a Principal, and Fraudulent Acquisition of Public Property against the suspect,” EACC said.
Certificate Allegedly Linked to Mount Kenya University
According to the commission, investigators established that the certificate submitted during the recruitment process purportedly came from Mount Kenya University.
EACC did not disclose the suspect’s name or indicate when the arraignment would take place.
Anti-Graft Agency Intensifies Credential Crackdown
The arrest adds to a series of investigations involving public officers accused of using forged academic credentials to obtain government jobs, promotions or other public benefits.
EACC has increasingly targeted cases involving alleged falsification of academic documents, arguing that such conduct undermines integrity and accountability in public service.
