Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has raised fresh concerns about internal tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying she does not want to be drawn into what she described as growing confusion inside the party.
Speaking during an interview on Ramogi FM on Wednesday, July 29, Odhiambo said disagreements within ODM have become increasingly difficult to ignore as the party navigates its role in the broad-based political arrangement with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
MP Claims Tensions Have Become Personal
Odhiambo suggested that the situation within ODM has moved beyond ordinary political disagreements. She claimed some of the tensions have become personal and potentially dangerous.
The legislator alleged that a group of youths linked to the party leadership confronted her at a highly secured location. According to her account, the group arrived in four Probox vehicles.
She further claimed that her security team experienced difficulties accessing the venue during the incident.
Claims Yet to Be Verified
Odhiambo said that after making inquiries, she came to believe that individuals connected to the party leadership had organised the confrontation. She also alleged that those involved later verbally attacked her and demanded that she show respect to Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga.
The MP did not provide evidence to support the allegations during the interview, and the individuals she referred to had not publicly responded at the time of publication.
ODM Under Increasing Scrutiny
Her remarks come amid continued speculation about possible defections and shifting loyalties within ODM as the party adjusts to its cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The comments are also significant because they point to possible internal divisions involving senior party figures and elected leaders.
Neither ODM's national leadership nor Senator Oburu Oginga had issued an official response to Odhiambo's allegations by the time of publication.
The latest claims are expected to intensify debate about the party's internal cohesion and its future political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
