A pastor based in Nairobi has been charged in court after allegations emerged that he had an inappropriate relationship with a Form Two girl who had been placed under his spiritual guidance.

The suspect, identified as Ejoi Anthony Omale, was arrested following a complaint filed by the 15-year-old girl’s family at Njiru Police Station.

Authorities allege that the incident took place in the Spring Valley area within Njiru Sub-county.

According to court documents, the girl is reportedly four months pregnant.

Due to her age, her identity has not been disclosed.

The allegations have triggered anger among residents and child protection groups, with many calling for justice and stronger safeguards for minors in religious institutions.

Investigators told the court that the student had been entrusted to the pastor for spiritual mentorship before the alleged offence occurred.

Police officers launched investigations immediately after receiving the report and later took the suspect into custody.

Omale was presented before a Nairobi court, where he faced a charge of defilement under the Sexual Offences Act.

During the proceedings, he denied the accusations and claimed that the case against him had been fabricated.

The prosecution opposed his release on bail, arguing that the matter was serious and that the safety and welfare of the minor needed to be protected throughout the investigation and trial process.

The court further directed that the girl undergo a medical examination as part of the ongoing investigations.

The case is expected to be mentioned later this month for additional directions.

Meanwhile, child protection officers and counsellors have continued to provide emotional support and guidance to the teenager and her family as the legal process continues.
