Tension gripped the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) after anti-riot police officers forcefully arrested two men during protests over the recent increase in fuel prices.
Witnesses said the two unidentified men were among a group of youths who had gathered in the CBD to express their anger over the rising cost of fuel, which has triggered a sharp increase in the prices of basic commodities and transport across the country.
The protesters were seen chanting and calling on the government to reconsider the latest fuel price adjustments.
In dramatic scenes, anti-riot police officers moved in quickly and grabbed the two men who reportedly resisted arrest.
The men were seen wailing uncontrollably as officers dragged them toward a waiting police vehicle.
They struggled and refused to enter the vehicle, forcing the officers to bundle them inside as members of the public watched.
Videos captured at the scene showed the two men crying loudly while pleading with officers as they were being forced into the vehicle. The situation attracted a crowd, with some onlookers recording the incident using their mobile phones.
Despite the resistance, the officers managed to push the men into the vehicle before driving away.
