Ruto Makes 7 Fresh Major Appointments, CS Mbadi Given Another Role

President William Ruto has unveiled a significant set of appointments to the Governing Council of the National Infrastructure Fund, a move likely to shape Kenya’s economic trajectory over the next three years.

The council will be chaired by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, alongside a high-profile team that includes Kamau Thugge, Dorcas Agik Oduor, Richard Etemesi, Paul Russo, Faith Boinnet, and Benedict Oramah.

The appointments signal Ruto’s intent to consolidate expertise across public finance, banking, and governance as the government pushes forward with ambitious infrastructure projects.

With Mbadi at the helm, attention will focus on how effectively the council can mobilize resources and ensure transparency in fund allocation.

Critics, however, may question whether the selections reflect political balancing or technocratic merit, especially at a time when public debt and fiscal discipline remain key concerns.

Still, the inclusion of seasoned figures such as Thugge and Oramah suggests an effort to anchor the council in financial credibility.

As Kenya seeks to accelerate development through infrastructure investment, the performance of this newly appointed council will be closely watched.

Its success—or failure—could define not only Ruto’s economic legacy but also public confidence in state-led development initiatives.
