Robert Alai, a Kileleshwa MCA, has sparked controversy after alleging that recent unrest in Kisumu is linked to senior county figures and elements within security agencies.

In a strongly worded statement, Alai claimed that criminal groups operating in the city were allegedly hired by associates of James Orengo and coordinated with the involvement of regional police officials.

He further accused the Kisumu regional police commander and the Regional Criminal Investigations Officer of collaborating with these groups to fuel instability.

According to Alai, the alleged actions are part of a broader scheme aimed at creating unrest under the cover of political resistance while indirectly undermining President William Ruto.

His remarks have quickly gained traction online, intensifying tensions in a region known for its active political landscape.

The allegations have drawn mixed reactions. Allies of Orengo have dismissed the claims as unfounded and politically motivated, arguing that they are intended to damage reputations and divert attention from key national concerns.

Others, however, have called for thorough investigations, warning that any proven collusion between law enforcement and criminal elements would represent a serious breach of public trust.
