Husband Storms Guest House in Port Harcourt, Catches Wife With Agent in Rent-for-Favor Scandal

A domestic dispute in Port Harcourt has triggered widespread online debate after a husband reportedly confronted his wife and a housing agent inside a guest house.

The incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at Cecilia Guest House in the Iwofe area. It escalated when the husband allegedly forced his way into a room and found the pair in a compromising situation. Witnesses say the confrontation quickly drew a crowd, turning what began as a private matter into a public scene.

At the center of the controversy is Mrs. Adaeze Wanodi, a mother of two, who reportedly admitted during the confrontation that she agreed to the arrangement due to financial pressure. She claimed the housing agent had offered to reduce rent for a two-bedroom apartment from ₦1.2 million to ₦400,000.

In the now-viral video, she argued that her decision was driven by economic hardship rather than personal intent, saying she was trying to ease the burden on her family amid rising living costs. Her husband, however, rejected the explanation and accused both individuals of betrayal.

The incident, which took place near Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, has sparked mixed reactions online. Some have condemned the act as a clear violation of trust, while others point to worsening economic conditions as a factor pushing people toward extreme decisions.

No official statement has been issued by authorities so far, but the story continues to trend, fueling debate on the housing crisis, personal responsibility, and the limits people may cross under financial strain.
