A tragic road accident along Nairobi's Southern Bypass has claimed the life of Ann Cherotich Chebochok, the sister of former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto. The crash happened on Tuesday morning near the Kenya Forest office in Karen.

Police said the accident occurred at about 6:20 a.m. A Subaru Forester collided with the rear of an Isuzu lorry while both vehicles headed from Lang'ata towards Kikuyu.

Victim Died at the Scene

Ann Cherotich Chebochok was travelling in the front passenger seat of the Subaru. She was also the wife of tea sector stakeholder John Chebochok.

She suffered severe head injuries during the collision. Emergency responders confirmed her death at the scene before moving her body to Lee Funeral Home.

Daughter Escapes With Injuries

The deceased's daughter also travelled in the Subaru. She sustained injuries but survived the crash.

Doctors admitted her to hospital for treatment. Police said her condition remains stable.

Police Launch Investigations

Investigators visited the scene after the accident. They documented the crash before arranging for the vehicle wreckage to be cleared.

Preliminary findings indicate the Subaru failed to keep a safe distance. Officers have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the fatal collision.

Road Deaths Continue to Rise

The latest tragedy adds to the growing number of fatal road accidents across the country. Police reported that 13 people died in separate crashes on Monday alone.

The victims included pedestrians, passengers, motorcycle riders and a driver. Another 23 people sustained injuries and received treatment at various hospitals.
