A deeply frustrated elderly man in eastern India has stunned bank officials and bystanders after exhuming his late sister's remains and carrying them to a bank branch to prove her death. The man took the drastic action after repeated denials of his claim to her savings account.

The man, whose sister had passed away recently, had visited the bank multiple times with official death certificates and documentation to claim her savings on behalf of the family.

However, bank officials repeatedly rejected his claim, demanding further proof or questioning the validity of his documents. Frustrated by bureaucratic delays and the refusal to release the funds, the man dug up his sister's body from her burial site and carried her remains in a cloth to the bank.

Eyewitnesses reported shock and disbelief as the man arrived at the branch with the exhumed body. Videos and images circulating online show him walking through public areas carrying the remains. The incident has sparked widespread outrage over bureaucratic insensitivity and the extreme lengths citizens are forced to take when institutions fail them.

Bank authorities have not yet issued a formal statement. Local police are investigating the matter.

Can systemic reform prevent such desperate acts by grieving families?
